Learning Guide

Glossary and Language Support – At the back of each book published by Bonnie Publishing, you will find a dedicated learning section - a gentle, supportive section designed to help children (and grown ups!) explore the richer ideas woven into each story.

Glossary

Here you will find explanations on keywords, symbols and themes.

This acts as a quick lookup guide when your child finds a word they don't know or just want to learn a little bit more.

Through learning new words and meanings behind the stories, we are supporting reading confidence and building vocabulary..

Language

At Bonnie Publishing, we recognise just how important it is to pass on language, words and culturally specific terms to our younger generations.

We are passionate about encouraging people of all ages to reconnect with our ancestors.

In The Little Witch And The Sea , we have used words in Guernesiais, so we included translations in the glossary.

Cultural References

When we use cultural or folklore terms or phrases, words and symbology in our children's stories, we want to provide explanations.

What do those words mean At Bonnie Publishing we know that our children are inquisitive and like to ask us grown-ups lots of questions, which we don't always know the answer to.

By providing a glossary we hope that this provides a shared opportunity for learning.

Celebrating Our Cultures

All of our books do not require any prior knowledge

We think it's vital that we continue to be aware of, and celebrate, our ancestral identities.

We hope that by sharing learning, we acknowledge that places and words have their own voices, and this helps build       respect for local heritage and history.
